Clever Interactive Marketing Campaigns – Living in the Fast Lane

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

Marketing is everywhere.  TV, newspapers, internet, magazines, radio… the list goes on, but what actually makes a good campaign memorable?  What are the essential ingredients for a successful campaign?

In this instance, Volkswagen think they have the perfect recipe – a slide, an interactive piano and a bucket load of fun as their top priority!

The first of these campaigns on YouTube is a Fast Lane slide that was installed in Berlin’s Alexanderplatz U-Bahn station to demonstrate what it feels like to live in the fast lane – watch it here…

Their second campaign starts by clearly showing majority of people choosing to use the escalator in one of Sweden’s subway stations.  To determine whether you can influence people by using fun as the motivator, Volkswagen turned the subway station stairs into an interactive keyboard which resulted in 66% more people than normal using the stairs rather than the escalator next to it.  Fun really does seem to influence people’s decisions – whether old or young!  Watch it here…

Be honest, would you have taken the stairs, the slide or the escalator??
